Acai berries themselves grow on acai palm trees — deep purple and grape-like — native to the Amazon flood plains, and have long been a staple plant in Brazil, historically used there for energy.

The pulp is gently processed and freeze-dried close to harvest time to lock in nutrients, taste and its deep purple colour. There are no fillers, additives, sweeteners or anti-caking agents. Powder is chosen over frozen acai to cut transport impact — frozen acai also carries extra moisture that dilutes its fibre, vitamins and other nutrients.
