Batana oil comes from the nut of the American palm, and it has long been a traditional beauty staple. This is the unrefined form of it - one ingredient, Elaeis oleifera kernel oil, with no additives, synthetic fragrance, fillers or preservatives.
Unrefined shows in two ways. The colour is natural and deep rather than clarified, and the oil is solid at cooler temperatures, softening to a buttery texture in the warmth of your hands. The aroma is warm and earthy, and unmistakably the oil's own.
For hair it is used as a treatment rather than a daily styling oil. Warm a small amount until it liquefies, work it through the mid-lengths and ends or massage it into the scalp, leave it anywhere from thirty minutes to overnight, then wash it out. Dry, coarse, curly or textured hair takes it best. Used sparingly as a leave-in, a very small amount adds shine and keeps frizz down.
For skin it suits the places that need more than a lotion - elbows, cuticles, heels, weather-roughened patches. Apply it to slightly damp skin after cleansing and massage it in.
Vegan, cruelty free and minimally processed, in a 100 mL bottle. If it has set firm in cold weather, warming it gently brings it back. Patch test before the first use.

Directions

Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Oil may solidify in cooler weather - warm gently to soften before use.
