Drain, rinse, warm through for a minute or two, and they are ready - there is no boiling and no waiting for a pot to come up. Konjac noodles come pre-cooked in their pouch, which is what makes them a weeknight ingredient rather than a project.

They are made from purified water and certified organic konjac fibre, drawn from the root of the konjac plant, with food grade calcium hydroxide to set them. That is the whole ingredient list. The result is a noodle with a springy, al dente bite and almost no flavour of its own, so it takes on whatever it is cooked with - a soy and sesame stir-fry, a chilli broth, a tomato sauce, or cold through a salad.

Rinsing matters. A good rinse under cold water clears the packing liquid and its faint smell, and a minute in a dry pan drives off the moisture so sauces cling instead of sliding off.

The 400 g pouch is certified organic by ACO, vegan, gluten free and low in calories, with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. Once opened, keep them in the fridge and use within three days. Do not freeze.

Directions

Drain and rinse noodles under cold water. Heat in a pan or microwave for 1-2 minutes. Add to your favourite stir-fry, soup, salad, or pasta dish.

Storage

Store unopened in a cool, dry place. Refrigerate after opening and use within 3 days. Do not freeze.
