Where the N shades in this range sit neutral, 4CH runs deliberately warm - a velvety chocolate brown with depth and a multi-tonal finish rather than a flat single colour. It is the shade to reach for if neutral brown has ever looked dull on you.
Everything else follows the same approach as the rest of the range. Over 75% of the ingredients are certified organic and natural, and there is no ammonia, resorcinol or paraben in the formula, which keeps both the odour and the scalp irritation to a minimum.
Five parts come in the box: a Clarify Shampoo to prepare the hair, the colour gel, a Colour Fix, then a Hydrate Organic Shampoo and Conditioner. Organic aloe vera leaf, comfrey leaf, chamomile flower and grapefruit fruit extracts sit through them, with hydrolysed wheat protein and vitamin E in the colour gel itself, and shea butter, sweet almond oil and jojoba seed oil in the conditioner.
Strand and sensitivity test before you start. Apply evenly to dry hair from roots to ends, leave 30 to 40 minutes, rinse until the water runs clear, then finish with the shampoo and conditioner. The 48-hour patch test applies to every use, not only the first. Vegan, cruelty free and sustainably packaged.
