The exfoliation here is chemical rather than physical - fruit-derived AHAs and a BHA rather than a scrub with grains in it. Nothing is abraded off the skin, which is why the formula suits sensitive skin as well as congested or uneven complexions.
The acids come from bilberry, papaya, sugar cane, sugar maple and citrus extracts, with salicylic acid as the BHA. Australian Wadi-Wadi jojoba runs through it as hydrolysed jojoba esters and jojoba leaf extract, along with kale leaf extract and glycerin - the hydrating half of the formula, doing its work while the acids do theirs. The texture is creamy rather than gritty, and the whole thing rinses off cleanly.
Apply an even layer to clean, dry skin, avoid the eye area, leave it for seven to ten minutes, then remove with a damp cloth or rinse with lukewarm water. Two or three times a week is the recommended rhythm; more often is not better with acids.
One thing that is not optional: wear sunscreen while you are using AHA and BHA products. Patch test before the first use.
