Five herbs, drawn from both Western and Chinese herbal traditions, in a liquid you measure by the millilitre. Each 5 mL carries extracts equivalent to 1.25 g of dried licorice root, 1 g of eyebright herb, 1 g of elderflower, 500 mg of baical skullcap root and 100 mg of fresh garlic bulb.
The base is 28% ethanol with purified water and glycerol, and there are aniseed and peppermint essential oils in it - which is what stops a formula containing garlic from tasting the way you would expect. It can be taken straight or diluted in a little water, juice or another fluid, and it is easier to swallow diluted.
Adults take 5-10 mL two or three times daily, children aged 3 to 12 take 1-5 mL on the same schedule, and the maximum continuous course is six weeks. Shake the bottle first. At 200 mL and adult dosing, that is somewhere between one and three weeks depending on how much you take.
