Acai berries grow on acai palm trees — deep purple and grape-like — native to the Central and South American rainforests along the Amazon flood plains. A staple plant throughout Brazil, acai has historically been used there for energy. The pulp is gently processed and freeze-dried close to harvest time to lock in nutrients, taste and its deep purple colour, with no fillers, additives, sweeteners or anti-caking agents — certified organic and 100% pure acai. Powder is chosen over frozen acai to reduce transport impact; frozen acai also carries extra moisture that dilutes its fibre, vitamins and other nutrients.
