Product Overview
Used on its own over dark brown or black hair, Indigo Shadow deepens the colour to a cool blue-black. Used on lighter hair it is the second half of a two-step process: a henna base first, such as Red or Chestnut Shadow, then this over the top. Skipping that first step on light hair is the usual reason an indigo result disappoints.
The ingredients are Indigofera tinctoria and Aloe barbadensis - the indigo leaf for pigment, the aloe for moisture. Nothing else. No peroxide, ammonia, bleach or PPD, which is what makes it workable for sensitive scalps and for people avoiding conventional dye altogether.
Mix the powder with warm water to a creamy paste, apply it evenly to clean, dry hair, cover, and leave it one to three hours depending on how dark you want it. Rinse thoroughly and condition to clear the residue. Mix it fresh each time.
Indigo also earns its place as a corrector: layered over a brown shade it cools down warmth and helps with stubborn grey. It will not lighten hair under any circumstances. Patch test 48 hours before use. Australian made, certified organic, vegan and cruelty free, with biodegradable packaging.
