It is designed for use with Sourdough Mumma Gluten Free Feed My Starter Mix and can be prepared for gluten-free sourdough bread, focaccia and other suitable recipes.
To activate the starter, you will need a clean 1.5 litre jar, filtered water, kitchen scales, a fork and the matching gluten-free feed mix. The pack provides staged feeding instructions, with time allowed between feeds for the culture to become bubbly and active. Temperature affects fermentation, so activation can take longer in cooler conditions. Follow the current packet directions and the brand’s step-by-step guidance carefully rather than relying on a fixed activation time.
Once active, remove the amount of starter required for your recipe and keep the remainder refrigerated in a well-sealed jar. Regular feeding helps maintain the culture for future baking.
