Martin & Pleasance All Natural Cream Witch Hazel 100g

Witch hazel extract is the named ingredient, carried in a plain cream base rather than a gel or a lotion. The base is purified water with glyceryl monostearate, almond oil, apricot kernel oil, cetostearyl alcohol, glycerin and beeswax, thickened with xanthan gum and preserved with potassium sorbate.

Those two oils are what give the cream its feel - almond and apricot kernel are light, absorbing oils rather than heavy ones - and the beeswax gives it body. It spreads without dragging and does not sit on the surface.

Martin & Pleasance make a run of these single-ingredient herbal creams in the same 100 g jar - Arnica, Calendula, Comfrey and Thuja alongside this one - so if you already use one of the others, this is the same base with a different herb in it and the same jar on the shelf.

A jar rather than a tube is the practical difference: easier to get the last of it out, and better suited to home use than to carrying around. Apply only as directed on the label, patch test before the first use, and keep it off the eyes and broken skin unless the label says otherwise.
