Product Overview

Byron Bay Tallow Organic Grass-Fed Beef Tallow 400g is an Australian-made cooking fat prepared from certified organic, grass-fed beef fat. Slowly rendered in small batches, it offers a traditional alternative to plant-based cooking oils for frying, roasting, sautéing and baking. Its simple, single-ingredient formulation makes it easy to understand exactly what is being added to your cooking.

Beef tallow is naturally firm at cooler room temperatures and softens as it warms. Scoop the amount required with a clean, dry utensil, then melt it in a pan or roasting tray before adding food. The manufacturer identifies a smoke point of approximately 220°C, making it suitable for many everyday high-temperature cooking methods. Its savoury character works particularly well with roasted vegetables, potatoes, meat and pastry applications where a stable cooking fat is preferred.

The 400g jar provides a practical size for households that use tallow regularly and offers better value per gram than a smaller trial jar. It can replace other cooking fats on a recipe-by-recipe basis, although flavour and texture may differ. Start with a modest quantity when adapting an existing recipe and adjust according to the food, pan and cooking method. The product is gluten free and dairy free according to current supplier information, but it is derived from beef and is not suitable for vegetarian or vegan diets.

Store the sealed jar in a cool place away from direct sunlight. Tallow may become softer in warm conditions or firmer when refrigerated; this natural change does not by itself indicate a quality problem. Always use a clean, dry spoon to reduce the introduction of moisture or food particles. Check the jar supplied for the current best-before date, storage directions and certification details, and discontinue use if the product develops an unusual odour, colour or other signs of spoilage.
