Each patch measures about 2 x 2.7 cm, in a neutral beige, latex free and discreet enough to wear on an arm or a leg without drawing comment. They are DEET free, non-toxic and suitable for sensitive skin, and they suit children as readily as adults.
Clean and dry the skin first, peel one off the backing sheet and press it over the bite. Left on for several hours, or overnight, it also keeps the area covered while you sleep, which is when most of the damage from scratching gets done. Replace as needed.
