Product Overview
Bon Ami has been made since 1886, and the formula still works the way it always has: sprinkle the powder onto a wet surface or a damp sponge, rub in circles until it forms a light paste, then rinse. For anything stubborn, leave the paste sitting for a few minutes before you rinse it off.
The cleaning comes from mineral abrasives - calcium carbonate from limestone and feldspar powder - with soda ash, baking soda and a surfactant. They are soft enough not to scratch most hard surfaces, which is what separates this from a harsh scouring powder, and it handles dried-on food, scuff marks and soap scum across stainless steel sinks, enamel baths, tiles, grout, ovens and grills.
There is no chlorine, no dye and no perfume in it at all - useful in a house with children, pets or anyone sensitive to cleaning-product smells. The formula is biodegradable and the packaging recyclable.
Two things to know before you start. Keep it off glass and mirrors, where the abrasive particles can leave fine scratches, and test an inconspicuous corner first on anything delicate or polished. At 400 g a tin lasts a long time, since each use takes a sprinkle rather than a pour.
Ingredients
Calcium Carbonate (Limestone), Feldspar Powder (Mild Abrasive), Sodium Carbonate (Soda Ash), Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda), C10-C16 Alkylbenzene Sulfonic Acid (Surfactant).
Directions
Wet the surface or a sponge and sprinkle a small amount of powder onto it. Gently rub in circular motions to form a light paste that helps lift grime and stains. For tougher marks, allow the paste to sit for a short time before rinsing thoroughly with clean water. Always test the product on a small, inconspicuous area first, especially when cleaning delicate or polished surfaces.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight. Seal the container tightly after use to keep the powder free-flowing and effective.
Warnings
This is a mild abrasive and should be used with care on delicate surfaces. Avoid contact with eyes, as the product may cause irritation; if this occurs, rinse thoroughly with water and follow the first-aid instructions on the packaging. Do not use the powder on glass, mirrors, or any surface that specifies it should not be cleaned with abrasives. Keep the product out of reach of children and pets, and always use as directed.
