Fifteen litres with a tap on the front, which is a very different proposition from a spray bottle. The drum sits in the laundry or a cupboard and fills a smaller bottle whenever it runs dry, so what you keep in the bathroom stays small and the buying happens once or twice a year.

The cleaner itself handles the usual bathroom jobs - soap scum, mould and general grime - on tiles, basins, baths, showers and glass, using plant- and mineral-based ingredients rather than bleach. Spray it on, wipe it off with a damp cloth or sponge, and give stubborn build-up a few minutes to soften before you go at it. One exception to note: keep it off natural stone.

Rosemary and mint carry the scent, and it comes from the oils rather than a synthetic perfume, so a small bathroom does not end up smelling of chemical pine for the rest of the morning. The formula is free from phosphates and harsh chemicals, and is greywater and septic safe.

At this size the plastic saving is the real argument - one drum replaces a great many trigger bottles. Store it somewhere stable and out of the sun, keep the tap closed tightly, and think about how you will decant it before it arrives. Abode is Australian made and owned.

Directions

Spray onto bathroom surfaces such as tiles, basins, and glass. Wipe clean with a damp cloth or sponge. For stubborn build-up, allow the cleaner to sit for a few minutes before wiping. Avoid use on natural stone.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the tap closed tightly after each use. Refill smaller bottles as needed.
