Chestnut Shadow lands as a medium brown with warm, slightly red undertones - depth and warmth rather than a dramatic change of colour. It suits hair that is already blonde through to medium brown, and it will not lighten anything, since there is no bleach or peroxide in it.
The colour comes from four plants: Lawsonia inermis (henna), Indigofera tinctoria (indigo), Cassia obovata and Aloe barbadensis. Those pigments coat the strand rather than opening it up, which is why the same treatment conditions as it colours and leaves the hair feeling soft instead of stripped. No peroxide, no ammonia, no PPD, no synthetic fragrance - the reason people with sensitive scalps come to this kind of colour in the first place.
It is a powder, mixed with warm water into a smooth paste and applied to clean, dry hair from the roots down. Cover with a cap and leave it two to four hours depending on how deep you want the result, then rinse thoroughly and condition to clear the residue. Mix it fresh each time and use it straight away.

Mix the powder with warm water to form a smooth paste. Apply evenly to clean, dry hair from roots to ends. Cover with a cap to keep moisture in and leave for 2-4 hours depending on desired depth of colour. Rinse thoroughly and condition to remove residue. Storage
Keep sealed in a cool, dry place below 30 °C and away from direct sunlight. Use immediately after mixing.
