Product Overview
Also known as grey salt, or sel gris in French, this Celtic sea salt is harvested from the coastal salt marshes of Guérande, Brittany, using age-old traditional wooden tools. In the 1980s, a group of salt marsh workers formed a cooperative to protect their trade and the marshes from development, preserving the sustainable, traditional harvest that continues today.
It's slightly moist and unrefined, with a light grey colour that comes from the clay in the salt flats where it's collected. Unlike refined salt, which is dried with extreme heat and chemically cleaned down to plain sodium chloride — often with added free-flowing agents — this salt is naturally harvested straight from the ocean.
Sourced from France and packed in Australia, in a 500g resealable oxygen barrier bag to preserve freshness. Keep it in a clear or glass jar on the table or stove side, or use it in bath soaks or scrubs.
Directions
Sprinkle over salads, roast veggies, grilled meats, seafood, or baked goods to enhance natural flavours. Equally suited to cooking and finishing touches.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Always reseal the bag to retain moisture and freshness.
Warnings
