Nature First Chia Seeds Black are a powerhouse of nutrition. For Incan, Mayan, and Aztec cultures chia was a staple, along with more familiar foods such as corn and beans. “Chia” is the Mayan word for strength. Chia seeds come in black or white. We have both in the Nature First range, as well as a handy breakfast booster that combines them. There is little nutritional or taste difference between the colours, it is mostly visual preference. White chia can be better in chia puddings or where you want to hide the chia. Black chia will stand out and be seen. Maybe it’s a matter of personality!

What makes chia a superfood is that it is high in easily digestible protein, essential fatty acids (particularly omega-3), various vitamins, soluble fibre, antioxidants and many minerals.
